Welcome

We invite you to become acquainted with our congregation through our website. Better yet, come and visit us!  We would enjoy meeting you and sharing the love of Christ with you.  Lord of the Lakes is a small, welcoming, family style church.  We are a traditional and conservative church, but in a comfortable, caring, and compassionate way.

Visiting: The Worst That Can Happen

"I would just die if they made me stand up and say something."
I assure you, we will try not to embarrass you in this or any other way. We want you to feel comfortable and at home with us. Church should be an enjoyable and uplifting experience. We promise to do all we can so you can learn about your Savior.

"I know my child is going to be too noisy."
We welcome your children to attend our services. They also need to hear about God's love for them. Please don't be concerned about "noise" or distractions. That is simply part of having a young child!!! I know... I have four of them.

"I know I will feel out of place."
I hope that this website will ease your mind, but if you have a question, please ask someone for help. Don't hesitate to say, "I am new. What is this about?" Lord of the Lakes frequently has guests. Please don't feel as if you will stand out.

"I am afraid I will say or do something wrong."
All of us have felt this way when in a new situation, but I hope you see the people of Lord of the Lakes to be ordinary people just like yourself. We want to accept you as you are and help you become what Christ wants you to be. Everything in the worship service is from the hymnal or printed for you.

"I just want to watch at first, but I know that they will try to involve me or sign me up."
We believe that church membership and participation should be a completely voluntary, and that the most important thing is to trust in Jesus.  People need time to evaluate and decide if they wish further involvement.  Please take that time!

"I don't know that much about the Bible."
Church and Bible Study are opportunities to grow in our knowledge of the Bible and faith in Jesus. We are all at different stages of understanding and applying God's Word to our lives.  You won't have to answer any questions you don't want to answer and you're welcome to ask any questions you have.  You won't have to read out loud unless you volunteer. Remember, sometimes the wisest words we say are, "I don't know." I say them all the time! Some questions just can't be answered on this side of heaven.

In Christ,
Pastor Craig Bertram
